Some babies walk at 9 months. Some at 16. The WHO found the normal range for independent walking is 8.2 to 17.6 months.
Signs development is on track: Pulling to stand, cruising along furniture, standing briefly without support.
When to seek evaluation: Not pulling to stand by 12 months. Not walking by 18 months. Loss of previously acquired skills. Asymmetric movement — using one side much more than the other.
